Samsung Smart TV Remote Not Working — 7 Fixes India (2026)

Fix 1 — Replace batteries

Open the back cover and replace with 2 fresh AAA batteries (standard) or charge via USB-C (SolarCell models). Fixes 40% of Samsung remote problems.

Fix 2 — Phone camera IR test

Open camera, point remote at lens, press any button. If you see a white blinking light, the remote is working — problem is with TV sensor. If no light, proceed to Fix 3.

Fix 3 — Reset the remote

Remove batteries. Press and hold Power button for 20 seconds. Re-insert batteries. Test again.

Fix 4 — Re-pair Bluetooth

1. Point remote at TV from within 30cm
2. Press and hold Return + Play/Pause for 3 seconds
3. Pairing pop-up appears on TV
4. Select OK to complete pairing

Fix 5 — Power cycle TV

Unplug TV from wall. Wait 5 minutes. Plug back in. Try remote immediately after startup.

Fix 6 — Check SolarCell charging (for solar models)

Connect USB-C cable to bottom of remote. Charge for 2 hours. LED lights red while charging. Test after full charge.

Fix 7 — Factory reset remote

Settings → General and Privacy → Remote Control → Reset Smart Remote. Re-pair after reset.
